AN ALL ISLAND APPROACH
Bringing together scientific and industry actors from across the island of Ireland to develop commercial bioeconomy solutions that enhance resource efficiency in the marine sector.
AIMBio examines untapped side streams from aquaculture, fisheries, and aquatic processors, transforming them into high-value ingredients for Food, Feed, Cosmetics, Nutritional supplements and Industrial chemicals.
AIMBio will evaluate process efficiency to ensure scalability of the developed Blue Bioeconomy solutions. AIMBio uses an integrated biorefinery approach fostering sustainability and serving as a flagship demonstrator for the island of Ireland’s growing blue bioeconomy.

PROJECT INTRODUCTION
This is a timely and strategic investment that builds on Teagasc’s strengths in applied research, specialist infrastructure skills development and innovation. We are proud to lead the collaborative AIMBio project as part of a broader drive to harness Ireland’s marine bio-resources in a sustainable, circular way.
Professor Frank O’Mara
Professor Frank O’Mara, Teagasc DirectorAIMBIO is an ambitious all‑island initiative designed to unlock the full potential of Ireland’s aquatic biomass resources and strengthens Ireland’s capacity to innovate within the rapidly expanding blue bioeconomy. This project represents a major step forward in how we think about marine side‑stream, not as waste, but as valuable feedstocks for high value, sustainable products. With our consortium of research and industry partners, and with significant investment in new biorefinery infrastructure, we are supporting the growth of a competitive, sustainable, and innovation‑driven blue bioeconomy across the island of Ireland.
